New Republic Credits

After the New Republic replaced the Galactic Empire, New Republic Credits became the official currency. As the successor to both Imperial credits and the old Galactic Republic’s currency, they represented the New Republic’s attempt to establish legitimacy and economic order across the galaxy.
In the years immediately following the Empire’s fall New Republic credits were met with skepticism or outright refusal. Merchants, bounty hunters, and crime syndicates operating outside New Republic jurisdiction preferred other less official forms of legal tender.
I try really hard to stay spoiler free before the release of any Star Wars movie or show. This of course makes it hard to design models before premiere day. So after peeking (with one eye shut and no audio) at the Mandalorian And Grogu trailer, I saw a shot of a credit sitting on a table. I could have cheated and just folded the corners of an equilateral triangle back and called it a day, but I knew there had to be a better way. This model starts from a square, hides the folds between layers, and has nice locks to keep it neat. I think it’s an elegant model.
