The StarSpeeder 1000, and later the StarSpeeder 3000 were safe and efficient hyperspace transports. They were flown by single droid pilot and astromech copilot, and carried up to 40 travelers. Typically they would depart from Spaceport THX1138, and visit many destinations including Hoth, kashyyk, Tatooine, Endor, Jakku, Coruscant, Geonosis, Crait, and Exegol. The trips were very safe, except for some rare instances where the pilot droid’s programming was flawed.
The Star Tours motion simulator ride opened in 1987, and was updated in 2011 as a 3D experience, including a new paint scheme, new destinations, and C-3PO as the pilot
Waaaaay back in grade school, I saw a teacher create a hovercraft using paper, scissors (shudder), and tape. When the teacher blew behind it, it lifted up on a cushion of air and floated forward as long as he was blowing. I was captivated by it.
Flash forward about 50 years, and while I was on Star Tours, I was chosen as the Rebel Spy. It seemed like a sign. I knew I had to create the Starspeeder in origami. But the model itself was a little on the dull side… until I remembered that science experiment. I redesigned the model to hover like that toy from my childhood. This is my first Star Wars Action origami model.
