Shore trooper
Shoretrooper, or Coastal Defender Stormtroopers, are trained and equipped for operations in tropical beach environments. Since these locations aren’t generally used for military bases, there are relatively few of these specialized troops.
One such location was the planet Scarif, where The Empire’s Citadel Tower was located. The Tower housed one of the Empire’s top secret research facilities and it was here that the Death Star plans were developed and stored. The shoretrooper garrison tasked with defending the Tower was unable to stop a determined rebel raid. After an intense battle the Death Star plans were captured and transmitted to the Rebel Alliance.
I was teaching origami at a Star Wars event and was approached by a member of the 501st legion. He was in the shoretrooper armor and wanted to learn to make a lightsaber. It was fun watching him try to fold a very simple model while wearing very thick gloves. The end result was passable and everyone enjoyed watching him. The entire time, his helmet was on the table in front of me and I was thinking of ways to recreate it. Here is the result.
