The rebel logo was something I’d wanted to design for a long time. Every so often I’d fold a preliminary or water bomb base and see if I could get it to work. I always ran into the same problems… either not enough paper to make the leaves in the center, the central trunk would be too short, or the wings wouldn’t be long enough.

After designing the Imperial Logo, I knew I had to make a real effort to create the Starbird. And over the next few days I ran into the same problems until I had a ‘DUH’ moment. I could extend two flaps of a bird base using the same process I used to create the X-Wing cannons. This solved all three problems in one go.
