first order / sith stormtrooper
Stormtroopers are the most visible symbol of the might of the First Order. They wear the latest generation of body armor which has its origins in the Clone Wars. The armor is lighter, stronger, and more versatile than the versions worn during the reign of the Empire.
Captain Phasma was one of the three leaders of the First Order, along with Kylo Ren and General Hux. She directed the training and indoctrination of legions of First Order Stormtroopers. Her special chromium armor lent an extra air of mystique to her authority. She met her end on the Supremacy trying to stop Finn and Rose from escaping.
Sith troopers were a type of trooper that served under Darth Sidious in his Final Order. Named for the Sith, an ancient religious order of Force-wielders who worshiped the dark side of the force, Sith troopers were the mysterious evolution of the Imperial and First Order stormtroopers. Distinguished by their sinister red armor, Sith troopers drew their power from the Sith legacy, and the dark side of the force. Under the Final Order they were organized into legions of 5,000 soldiers, each legion named after an ancient Sith Lord. Most Sith troopers were killed in the Battle of Exegol, the final battle in the war between the First Order and the Resistance, when the Resistance finally defeated the First Order, and Darth Sidious’ Final Order.
A friend gave me a packet of papers which were little origami puzzles. The idea was to fold each in such a way that they were all black on one side, and white on the other. The folding involved a lot of fancy twists to achieve the solution. I started experimenting to see if I could use these twists to make the distinctive black and white stormtrooper helmet.
A side note. As I was putting together the models for Star Wars Origami 2, Disney insisted I include a separate chapter for the Sith Trooper. Considering the only difference between the Sith and First Order helmet is one crease (step 31 of 40) I thought it would be a poor service to the readers to dedicate an entire chapter of recolored pages with a one step change. As a compromise the step was removed and painted in on the special custom origami paper. See if you can spot the difference in the pictures above.
