Darth Vader was born on Tatooine as Anakin Skywalker. A chance meeting brought him to the attention of Qui-Gon Jinn, who thought he would fulfill an ancient jedi prophecy. It spoke of The Chosen One who would bring balance to the force. After Qui-Gon’s death Anakin trained with Obi-Wan Kenobi and became a powerful Jedi knight. This brought him to the attention of Darth Sidious, who seduced him to the dark side of the force. Anakin gave up his Jedi connections and became Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. Sidious and Vader destroyed the Jedi Order, disbanded the Republic, and established the Empire in its place.
Darth Sidious, as Emperor Palpatine, ruled the galaxy with Vader as his apprentice. Vader enforced the will of the Emperor, believing peace and stability were more important than personal freedoms. When the emperor’s plans to crush the rebellion were about to be completed, Vader was forced to choose between serving the Emperor and saving the life of his son, Luke Skywalker. Vader chose to kill Darth Sidious, bringing balance back to the force and fulfilling the ancient Jedi Prophecy.
Disney asked if I would teach a few of my models at the premiere party for Rogue One. How could I say no? They also asked if one of them could be a Darth Vader model. Since I thought the Vader helmet I’d created was a little complex for a party setting, I created this version of the Dark Lord of the Sith. As an added bonus, with just a few simple changes, the model becomes Director Krennic. Disney wouldn’t let me teach the Krennic version at the party. I don’t know why, and I’ll never understand the thinking of marketing executives.
